Conversion of PIO card into OCI card
The deadline set by the Government of India for conversion of PIO card into OCI card is expiring on 31.12.2017 and will not be extended any further. All PIO card holders residing in Mongolia are hereby intimated to convert their PIO card to OCI well before 31.12.2017. Any request for conversion of PIO card to OCI card after expiry of current deadline will attract a fee of USD 275 which is the same as charged for issuance of a fresh OCI card.
Following ICAO’s rules/guidelines (with respect to travel with machine readable travel documents) which come into effect from October/November 2018, those travelling to India on the strength of their PIO cards (handwritten) will be refused entry at the Indian immigration counters and would be sent back.
