Q? I have filled up online application form for visa. Is it necessary that I upload my photo also?

A: As of now it is NOT mandatory to upload your photo. But uploading photo makes processing faster. It might take longer to issue visa if you do not upload your photo while filling your online application form.

Q? I am a foreign national visiting Maldives for Tourism. I want to visit India and would like to know if there will be a visa on arrival upon entering India.

A: The nationals of Finland, Japan, Luxembourg, New Zealand, Singapore, Cambodia, Vietnam, Philippines, Laos, Indonesia, Myanmar and Republic of Korea can get Tourist Visa on Arrival visa for 30 days at Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Trivandrum, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kochi airports. Nationals of Bhutan, Nepal and Maldives can avail visa free travel to India with some conditions. All other national need visa to visit India.

Q? I am a foreign national visiting Maldives for Tourism for 3 weeks. I would like to know if I could apply for an Indian tourist visa at your Embassay. If yes, what is procedure and how long would it take. Do you keep my passport during the processing of the visa?

A: Yes, you can apply for Indian tourist Visa at our Embasay. It takes minimum four working days to process visa for non-Maldivians. It is advisable to keep passport with Embassay during the period but is NOT mandatory. Please visit our website or call us for further information.

Q? I am a foreign national working in Maldives. I am travelling to my country through India. The transit in India is 6 hrs. Do I need to apply for an Indian visa in advance?

A: No Visa is required if your stay in India is less than 24 hours and you remain in transit area without crossing Immigration check points. Please ensure that no leg of your journey within India is under domestic category. Transit/Tourist Visa is needed if the above conditions are not fulfilled. 

Q? I am a foreign national visiting Maldives for Tourism. I had a 6-month Indian tourist visa to India, which expired recently. Would it be possible for me to apply for a visa again to visit India through your Embassay? how much it will cost per person and how long time it can take to obtain this visa?

Q? I am Maldivian studying in India. I am visiting Maldives for my vacation and my visa is expiring shortly. Can I extend my student visa through the Embassay? If so, what is the procedure and what are the documents required?

A: All Visas except Tourist Visas must be extended in India only. Only in exceptional cases short term visas would be issued from Embassay to be regularized by concerned authorities in India.

Q? I am Maldivian businessman travelling frequently to India for meeting with my clients. Would it be possible for me to get a long-term multiple entry business visa to India? What is the procedure?

A: Yes. The businesspersons can apply for long term multiply entry business visa.

Q? I am a Maldivian national planning to a visit New Delhi to visit my sister, who is studying over there. I also want to visit some beautiful places and do sightseeing with my family. Do I need to apply for a visa in advance?

A: Maldivian nationals can avail visa free travel to India for tourism/casual meetings with friends and relatives and for Medical purposes. This facility is available for maximum stay of 90 days within immediately preceding six months.

Q? I am a Maldivian wanting to visit India urgently for a medical consultation. Do I need to apply for a visa?

A: If you have  not stayed in India for 90 days or more within immediately preceding six months and the duration of the treatment is not likely to be more than available days.
