Visit of General Bipin Rawat, UYSM, AVSM, YSM, SM, VSM COAS to Turkmenistan 4-6 August 2017

General Bipin Rawat, Chief of Army Staff of India visited Turkmenistan from 4-6 August 2017.  This was the first ever visit of Indian COAS to Turkmenistan and was  aimed at enhancing the bilateral relations between the two armed forces in keeping with the spirit of the ‘Defence Cooperation Agreement’, signed during the visit of Hon’ble Prime Minister to Turkmenistan in July 2015.

On 04 August, the COAS, accompanied by Ambassador Dr TV Nagendra Prasad, had a meeting with Colonel General Yailiym Berdiev, Minister of Defence of Turkmenistan and Secretary, National Security Council. Various facets of bilateral cooperation in the sphere of defence cooperation, especially in the field of training,  were discussed during the meeting.  Various proposals to further enhance the excellent bilateral ties between the two friendly countries were also discussed.
