Ambassador Dr TV Nagendra Prasad
H. E. Dr. Thatipamula Venkata Nagendra Prasad joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1993. He obtained Bachelor & Master of Science degrees in Horticulture from Andhra Pradesh Agricultural University, Hyderabad (1983-1989). He also holds a Doctorate in Horticulture from Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi (1989-1992).
As a career diplomat, he has dealt with a wide range of responsibilities. At the initial stage of his diplomatic career, he served at Headquarters as a Probationer in the Ministry of External Affairs (September 1993-February 1995). Later, at the Headquarters he served in various capacities. He headed the Regional Passport Office, Bengaluru (January 1999-July 2001) and was Director (Consular, Passport, Visa) & Project Director (Passport Seva Project) from June 2008 to March 2011.
Abroad, he served as Third Secretary/Second Secretary (Consular) in Embassy of India Tehran (February 1995-November 1998); First Secretary in High Commission of India, London (August 2001-January 2005); Deputy Chief of Mission in Embassy of India, Thimphu, Bhutan (February 2005-June 2008); and Deputy Chief of Mission in Embassy of India, Berne, Switzerland (April 2011- 3 July 2014). He assumed the post of Ambassador of India to Turkmenistan on 8 July 2014.
He is married and has one son. Ambassador Nagendra Prasad is widely travelled and besides Telugu (Mother Tongue) has good knowledge of Kannada, Hindi, English and Persian languages.
